EMEA VP M&A and Business Development, London based – global search in PowerGen

Client had run into hold-ups on a previous mandate for Business Development but had recently lost a couple of key Project Directors as well as Team head, so this one needed fixing urgently. A fast aggressive search through the direct competition (Utilities & IPP Operators globally) produced a good longlist from which we selected a mix of nationals and range of Project Origination / Execution skills for the shortlist, as requested. Despite issues with the financing market and economy already looming (mid 2008), we successfully closed both the Senior Team Directors and the VP hire.

 

Plant Manager, Nigeria, IPP – ex-pat mission for emerging markets experienced GM

Not the easiest of environments to sell to incumbent Plant Directors based in Europe, and an exacting brief in terms of technical experience and General Management and relationship skills. In addition, the candidates had to be internationally mobile for future missions globally. This one was interesting however; with the right approach and presentation of the longer term opportunities the client said they were pleasantly surprised and very happy with the choice on the shortlist. So happy that they took three of them in fact, and sent one to the Middle East, one to the Ukraine. A good value search (second hires for the same shortlist being charged by us at a very reasonable half fee).
